gauge reads: no oil pressure?

My gauges reads that i have no oil pressure. It doesnt move from start up. Just sits at the bottom. I do have enough oil though. So i am a little worried. However it is impossible that i actually have no oil pressure right? The guage has to be messed up right? If so is there a common place theses gauges mess up?

Thanks

if you had 0spi pressure, your engine would let you know after about 30 seconds...

In the engine bay there are to parellel wires. The wire color is yellow/red. It goes to the pressure sensor below the oil filter pedastool, and a capacitor on the firewall. One or both of those wire connections are bad/broken.

mine only has one wire. my pressure sensor is bad. it has to be bad I have desided. it likes to bounce around. sometimes it reads zero. other times it reads like 60lbs at anywhere from 2500rpm to over 3500rpm. It leaks oil too, from the bottom. it went wild one day in the drive way and scared me shitless. I am gonna take it off and break it with a hammer as an example to other potential parts that might be thinking of breaking, like my apex seals.

1 wire only? you're missing the capacitor which can cause the gauge to "bounce" around. The yellow/red wire runs parallel, but they aren't marked in any fasion other than being the same color. Add 15 years of fading and you'ld probably swear they are different wires anyhow...

You can beat the **** out of it if you like... I couldn't argue that its working after that could I?

did you check to see if the wire was connected to the oil pressure sending unit? Mine used to come off all the time...

I'm missing that condensor, too, and my guage bounces like mad. I know it's gone, b/c I broke it off at the wire trying to get it off of the firewall (instead of the slave cylinder, where it should have been).
