Gauge Cluster Light problem

Gauge Cluster Light problem
I did an search and didn't find any answers for this.
I have a 88 SE and Ever since I've owned it the gauge cluster lights will turn on and off randomly.
(I mean the orange back lighting)
I will be driving at night and the cluster lights will either not turn on or will come on when ever they feel like it.
I've tried to find a pattern but there isn't any. The only thing that is kind of reoccurent, The gauge will light up for a split second when I shift sometimes into 3rd.
I'm not sure where the problem is but The stereo deck lights fine and doesn't turn off with it.
Another part which doesn't light up at night is the Logicon controls. They will both turn off or on together.
Has anyone had this problem??

Well I used some cleaner/tuner lube on the instrument switches and now my rev buzzer doesn't sound.
I took off my instrument cluster today and looked behind the gauges hping there was a loose wire or something. Could I have pulled a wire or something out to cause the loss of the rev buzzer?
