Gas tanks, mystery solved
Ok, this sprung a surprisingly long run of threads when I last brought this up. But the answer is:
all 1986-1988 2nd Gen's had 16 gallon gas tanks
all 1989-1991 2nd Gen's had 18 gallon gas tanks
Simpy put, if you can ever pump more than 16 gallons in your tank, you have a 18 gallon gas tank.
Oh yeah, and you can easily retrofit a 18 gallon gas tank into a 86-88. Just need the 89-91 mounting straps and fuel pump. Bolts and plugs right in without modification, and visa versa.
Now, aren't you all glad that I've settled that one?
