No, it means that you probably have leaking injectors. Not a huge problem, but if you want a tip top condition car, you should go after that.

No. If anything, it would mean your side seals are shot.

Honestly, you probably need to get your injectors cleaned. And peejay is right, most rotaries tend to pollute the oil with gas.

do i have to pull the injectors to have them cleaned?
also, i have a fuel cut off that i use every time i shut down the car, shouldn't that mitigate the problem?

Ya got me wondering.... how do you come to the conclusion that the injectors are leaking??
If they are leaking to the point to where they are filling the chambers with gasoine, and leaking past the side seals into the "crankcase".... you have an engine that would never start, and have much larger problems.....
My oil smells like gas too- which isn't a good thing- it really degrades the oil... that why I change it every 3 months!
I think just about all rotaries have this phenomenon.

I havent come to any conclusions. let me tell you my situation. I have a car 103k previous owner claims motor is out of a wreck with 40k on 15k ago. i bought the car with 91k in december of 01. About two months ago, i started having flooding problems, so i changed plugs and installed a fuel cut switch. now, when i start the car, it takes about 30 seconds to even out, sounds like its not running on both rotors for that first 30 sec.
after that, runs like a bear, no problems. Accellerates as well as you can expect a basically stock n/a to. When i shut it down, i always smell gas, i have replaced the fuel filter, hoses to and from filter, and the return hose. havent changed lines to the fuel rails, because i don't know where they originate. There is no sign of leaking gas oil or coolent under the car at any time. I can not find any fresh gas on the motor either. I changed my oil again (after about 2k) and it just simply reeks of gas, not just a bit, but a lot, but all in all, oil is reletively clean. any ideas?

The system that removes the fumes from your oil system may be not functioning properly. There is a black round valve (forget the name) but it is like $50 (ask me how I know). I believe there are other components that also work on removing the fumes. You might want to look into it.
