Gas in Oil

I've searched the forum and found little info as to the cause or remedy of gasoline in oil.

I've got an 88 NA . The car was flooded a few months ago and the oil smelled like gas. I changed the oil after reading that fuel can contaminate the oil after a bad flood. BUT after about 1.5k miles, the oil smells like gas again.

Anyone know of the cause or remedy? Also interested to see if this is a common problem.

Normal if the car was badly flooded, or the side seals are starting to go.

Remember just changing the oil, only removes 2/3rds to 3/4s of the oil. If it has become badly flooded the contaminated oil still in the oil cooler, oil filter and the rest of the engine, is not drained out when you change the oil.

what is your engines compression at???

personally, I find it pretty hard to distinguish gas smell from the oil smell. I would just take a spoon of oil, and try to light it on fire. If it lights on fire, your oil have significant amount of gas in it.
good luck,
Shin

A fuel cut off switch for when you cut it off might help with leaky injectors leaking after you cut it off.
