Angry gas in the oil???

i was to lazy to change my oil today.and the guy who drained my oil, said he smelled gasoline in the oil, heavily.he could not see any gas in the oil,and could not see it leaking from anywhere on the engine.he seemed completely sure that the smell was coming from the oil.is this guy nuts? its an 86 n/a.and other than "the smell" the car runs swell,it has 137 k on the engine, what do you guys think?

Has the car ever been flooded badly, recently.

If it has, then yes you could have gotten gas in the oil.

if you do a search you will find a couple of threads on this topic. there are some people that swear their oil never smells like gas while others say it always smells like gas. my oil always smells like gas. the compression checks out good and it runs great, so i'm not worried about it.

Your oil should be changed everytime you flood.

Its common to smell gas in the oil if flooded (even a little) or if compression is low.

How many miles was on this gas smelling oil?

Change it more frequently and after every flooding episode.

I also have noticed that certain oils can affect the smell. Try other brands and use a weight that matches your weather and driving style.
