Gas odor

Okay, the motor is dry. Pulsation damper appears to be fine. I still get this gas smell. Fuel lines, fuel filter seem to be okay. Wetness not found any where. No signs of gas at all. I'm not even kidding, you could eat off this engine. Very clean. I have the 'b' class extinguisher on the passenger side just in case. Any ideas why I get this odor? I'm killing some serious brain cells here.
Only when you are driving or when it is sitting too?
I had an exhaust gasket break and a 1 inch piece of it was missing before the cats. The fumes nearly killed me numerous times. Needless to say, I didn't take it on many long distance trips until I fixed it.

Smell the gas when driving and briefly after. I'm completely paranoid regarding the pulsation damper. I never really checked the idea about the exhaust piece. I will have to put it up on stands and get my lighter (kidding!) out and inspect It might be a good idea to just change out some lines. Cheap enough for sure. And the car will be 15 years old this coming August so it can't hurt. Will let you know what I discover.
I am having the same problem but I only smell it when I am gettign into it and it smells like raw fuel not exhaust. I too am going crazy I have a garage size fire extingisher B class in my car.
I had a raw gas odor as well, it ended up being my PCV (Purge Control Valve)

Pulsating dampner
Hi guy's, just a thought how did you check your pulsating dampners? Did you take the plastic caps off? You will not always get a visual fuel liquid or spray leak. I had the screw back out all the way and no actual raw fuel leak however it was hissing sound and a gas smell. You need to remove the cap. But be careful the watch for the screw falling when you do. I believe this screw being backed out and having gone undetected over a period of time caused the engine with only 60,000 original miles to **** the bed. 87 non-turbo running great with rebuild, after alot of aggravation, time, learning, and money. Gary
I have a 91' so there is no screw. the way it looks you have to replace the whole fuel rail. There are no odd sounds coming from it either and if you put your finger on the end of it, it is pulsing fine.
