Gas mileage improvements?

Hi guys I was just wondering if there are any ways to improve gas mileage. My car is stock right now but I am planning on moddifications staring in feb/03. Do most mods make the mileage worse? I have an N/a RX and get about 18-19mpg and my driving is about 50/50 city/highway and I usually have my foot down at least 3/4 of the way down unless my radar detector goes off then I let off a little.

good one drox...

Get a MSD ignition. I've heard really good things about them. They will pay for themselves within the 1st year. 50 km more a tank on the highway.

here is the deal, the more mixture (more gas) the greater the power. so as you uncork the motor and allow it to breath the more power you will get. now if you choose to use this power, and who wouldn't, you will get worse gas mileage. if you drive the same it will improve slightly since it is now more efficient. yes i know there are far more factors here but that is the ground level explanation.

i did a full tune-up and my car went from 9-12mpg. then i got a crane hi-6 and my car went to 14mpg. then i did the tid mod and ditched the cats. now my car gets around 17mpg. 100% city driving. thats still pretty bad, but i have a lead foot.

Funklord: what is a crane hi-6 and how would I do the tid mod? Can you give me a list of what a "full" tune-up is?

I vouch for the Crane Cams paying for Itself. Infact, It's payed for Itself 3 times over. Not a noticable gain In performance but better Fuel Economy and Idle.

I upgraded my intake and exuast and got 25mpg on my N/A this was in an 88
I went with a straight pipe, so no cats. Then i added an HKS filter. These upgrades improved my gas milage greatly

Which does little good unless you buy three HI-6 units...

A better comparison is that the Crane HI-6 is digital, whereas the MSD is analog.
