Question gah! idk what to do!!!

ok so.. i traded my tbird for an 86' GXL on wednesday.. drove it home.. dandylike and all.. but there are a few problems i never had with my 88.. ill list them of..

1. the fuel guage doesnt work.. the guy i got it from said the kid before him had put a turbo II FP in it and never reconnected the grounds on the sending unit and thats why the gauge doesnt work.. i pulled the carpet and all the grounds are connected.. i pulled the cluster and point tested all the wires they all came out to have a charge.. i cleaned the connections on the back of the cluster and still nothing

wtf should i do? lol

2. ive read somewhere that a bad/dirty fuel sock will cause it to "stall out" making corners which this does even if im going slow and just jerk the wheel.. also the car wont rev past 4500-5000 RPM while driving or when in neutral/ disengaged clutch.
it had a cold air intake on it which i took off thinking that might be the revving problem (too much air for tha MAFS) and i also gutted both cats to the point of they might as well be an empty soda can welded to my exhaust.. now ive noticed when i rev the motor by hand at the T/B it starts to force coolant out of the line coming off the side of the T/B.. im assuming thats not normal lol

again.. WTF should i do? lol

any help would greatly greatly appreciated as i have some.. uh.. "small" plans for this car besides just my DD.

thanks in advance guys

sounds like fuel.. pull the fuel pump, check the sock. replace it. And check the fuel lever swing arm and clean the contacts and wiring from it. Should be simple and that could be all ur problems. I had a simular power problem where the car would hesitate under cornering.. was the fuel sock.

Have you replace those 5 MIA intake nuts yet? Thats probadly not to good with only 1 on it..lol

If your pushing coolant, its got a blown seal. I told ya MazSport builds crap. Pull the cap off cold, start engine, if you see bubbles and it never stops, its a done deal. needs seals.

I think I would check plugs for water on the rear. I bet you got an internal leak causes the engine to not pull right.

You shouldn't be driving the car over 4500 anyways with the rear mount broke in half like it is..next thing your driveshaft u-jionts with be shot.

The coolant line on the throttle body must have a crack in it of the clamp is missing. I'm saying that's not normal even with a broken internal water seal. The water should be pumping out into the overflow bottle before it'll blow a water hose off. Unless someone put a significantly higher psi cap on the filler.

Get him to send you a picture of where his overflow cap is now, its right next to the oveflow bottle between the headlight and the side of the overflow bottle..Its got some odd hack overflow system, with a cap. I have never seen anything like what he has got... ever! I don't think it even works, being its below the overflow bottle.

levi shh lol i know my cars fucked up lol! and no i havent replaced the 3 MIA intake runner bolts yet.. lol its only the 2 on the outside holding it down. yea im about to rip that stupid extra coolant **** out because its completely useless. as for the rear diff mount im still working on that one. also i did replace the sock today.. omfg its like someone poured georgia clay into my pump sock and re attached it to my pump.. lol ill post pics later. but it helped a little. the coolant coming out of the rear of the TB has stopped.. now i need new secondary injectors.. which i cant find at any local parts stores so i figure just maybe do a small upgrade on them? what say you levi? and the rest of you all

1. stop saying "lol" at the end of every sentence, and ending every thought with "..." or "idk"

2. replace fuel sock

3. bypass the coolant around your TB by just running a line across from the back of the water pump to the back of the engine by the transmission where the coolant line originates. if that fixes your problem of coolant in you TB then at least you know that was the problem. you could even leave it bypassed (mine is).

4. don't "upgrade" your injectors. your car is tuned rich from the factory. just get the ones you have already cleaned.

5. the 86 has the coolant overflow in a different location STOCK, so make sure you aren't just taking out the coolant overflow all together.

Zack, You are outta control.

What makes you think the injectors are bad.. Don't waste your money, cause thats not the problem. Pull the filter, change it. Check the plugs. Change the oil. Run some injector cleaner through it. Then bring it back over and if it still running bad, you can swap out for set of good known working injectors. You will never need more fuel in that N/A. Its too much now. anyways. The car will run bad, if it is not 100% perfect on vacuum and voltage in system. Rx7s are very picky, when it comes to slight voltage changes and vacuum.

i ran some cleaner through it yesterday after i replaced the sock. still the same problem.. it runs fine unless i put my foot down .. if i keep it at half throttle or 3/4 it'll go through the band just fine. i do need to flush all my fuel lines from the inline filter to the tank though because when i disconnected the line yesterday all it spit back was basically liquid rust.. so im replacing the inline filter along with possibly the lines?

You should be fine with just a new filter, but check and see if the line past the filter is dirty. If it is.. the damage is done and injectors are clogged up.

Hopefully just new filter, maybe clean line from tank to filter..?

What about the tank, or did they throw clay in the tank?

Get the recepit thats says Mazsport did the rebuild. That little piece of paper is worth $4000.00

I mean what kind of asshat puts in a new engine in a car with clogged fuel lines

well idk but ima be doing that as soon as i find another motor.. mine blew up today.. well... it doesnt make any compression and sounds like a blender when i turn the key so im guessing apex seals? while im at it i might as well just replace all the other seals and gaskets in the motor? i might buy one of those $200 craigslist motors and throw it in the car while i rebuild this one. what do you think levi?

I saw your car sitting on 275 N right by 54th ave yesterday.. Have faith grasshopper all is not lost.

I have a feeling your OMP doesn't work. You just lost the oil inside.

Did you seize the engine when you was driving it? Did it over heat any?

If you answered no to both above questions then there is hope. If it turns like a blender, thats good kinda. sounds like a stuck seal, hopefully.

I do not think the engine was a rebuild. It was too dirty and leaky and missing too many parts to have been rebuild recently.

take this to the PM's and tell me the story of how you ended up on the highway sittin.
