Funny, oil pressure gauge funny...!!!

so, my oil pressure gauge was fine a month ago. the oil pressure was at 30 at idle, and 60 on gas. Good readings.

Then, I knowticed that I had a 0 oil pressure. checked the sending unit. the wire was fried.
and I was driving like that for a while, then the oil pressure line even dropped about 20 degrees below 0.

then, I fixed the line today, and at idle, pressure "goes up" from negative 20 to 0. (which is consistant with 0->30 readings)

how can I reset the gauge so that it would stay at 0 when the engine is off?
thanks guys,
Shin

I have this same problem... im thinking it might have blown the actual guage, so today im going to take it out and figure out some way to test it. ive tried new oil pressure senders, and thats not the problem....
Someone must know the answer to this problem... i posted about it a week or so ago, and no replys... could it be we've stumped the gurus? i think not. Someone with the answer just needs to read this and reply...

Im sure it is not the sending unit itself that is faulty- I think it has something to do with the gauge. ...I really dont want to take the entire dashboard off if I dont have to...

The main reason this post is not getting response is because this problem is as common as blinking. Search.

If you want to know your oil pressure get an aftermarket gauge.

If you want to test the stock gauge turn the ign. on and ground the sensor wire. It should peg the gauge. Do this quickly.

I have searched. and did all of that, my pressures are FINE.
I just want to fix my gauge, and found no answers regarding that.
Please read the question more carefully.
READ.

dont have to take off the whole dash to get to the guage, just remove the surrounding trim which contains the light/hazard/wiper/cruise etc.. and pull out your guage cluster,
