Check your tail light and hatch rear seals.

Once you remove the airpump, the ACV is disabled and you will get unburned fuel in the exhaust.

Are you sure its fumes or just it just smell/stink ?

Its more then likely just the general rotary smell. Its called rotang, get used to it. It gets addicting after a while :P

The smell is more 'pugnant' when using premix

If your start getting tired/sleepy. Then its an exhaust leak! Seriously, if its an exhaust leak it should be easy to find, either jack up your car and feel near/around all the exhaust flanges/pipes for some air (do so when car is COLD!!!!! and do it quick! :P)

Every RX7 i ahve been in with no cat/air pump smelled like this. Its not very noticeable when the car is stock though.

It also may be a fuel leak around the injector orings or the fuel pressure regulator. Easy to find aswell, just pop the hood and sniff/look.
