Question Fueling Issues?

First post, sorry if this isn't where it's supposed to go.
I just bought an '86 base two weeks ago and have started experiencing two fuel related symptoms:
1. On three separate occasions, on warm start, the car cranked but wouldn't catch, flooded, then started perfectly on first crank after de-flooding. This occurred after 20+ minute drives, so it's not the typical "rotary floods after not being allowed to warm up" ****.
2. On two separate occasions, the car idled low (>500), then stalled when given gas in neutral.
Power delivery is jumpy, but it's there.
What are your guy's thoughts? Anyone have experience with this?

The first thing we need to understand is what has been done to the car? Since it’s new to you, you may not be able to spot everything, but for example it’s common to do “emissions deletes” which greatly reduce idle/start quality, especially when relying on a “stock” ECU.

Regarding the hot start issue, it may not be “the typical "rotary floods after not being allowed to warm up" ****”, but could very well be the typical hot start issues associated with tired motors and/or tired injectors that need servicing. Easy start after deflood would lead me to towards injectors needing serving.

I would confirm that the fuel filter is clean or has been replaced recently. Another culprit to look into is the fuel sock on the fuel pump. Those tend to get backed up with all sorts of crap. I'm saying this from experience. I would also check your spark plugs (have they recently been replaced). You can also look into calibrating the TPS which I'm fairly certain hasn't been adjusted in a very long time.
