Fuel Setup Question
This is for an 89 T2. I am having the car tuned by Steve Kan in february and I am trying to get everything together and installed beforehand. I am shooting for 250-270 whp. Right now it is at 223whp at 10 psi. I have a new factory turbo and 720cc injectors(neither are installed yet). I am asking will 720cc secondaries suffice or do I need them in the primaries as well? Also I am pretty sure when they go in, it will have to be tuned so it isn't getting more fuel then necessary, is this correct? I have an SAFC to tune with. For people questioning, a walbro 255 is on order already. I'll also be looking to get a FMIC as well. Thanks for the input and sorry if this is a bit confusing. I don't know very much at all about turbo cars/fuel setups so be nice, this is my first.

me0pistons,
Im also using 720cc injectors on a turbo 13B. Its easier to get a solid idle if you keep the primaries stock (550cc). Just increase the secondarie size or add additional injectors. Lots of guys here have more experience with this than me you may benifit from reading the megasquirt section on this forum even though your using a different piggyback set up. Im using 4- 720's now and so far I have had trouble getting a decent idle but its very early yet with a new Megasquirt install and lots of bugs to work out. Wouldnt hurt to call Steve Kan Im sure he can tell you what works from past experience. Good luck and merry X mas.

I'm just wondering how you are going to jump from 223rwhp to 250-270rwhp with no upgrades? I don't think you will get there but it's just me. First off if your running 10psi now and with the new turbo what 12psi max? do you think it's going to get you an extra 25-40rwhp? The fmic and the "new" turbo may get your car a couple of extra hp but I don't think it's what you are going to be shooting for. What you may want to do is go to the bnr website and check out his hybrid turbo's for sale.

Thanks for the input. I wasn't expecting to get that much power out of the things I listed. I guess the real question was about fuel, not getting to so much horsepower. I haven't looked into the bnr hybrid yet, but if the money situation is ok I might pick one up. Can I use the stock manifold with it or do I need a new one?

bnr turbos
the bnr turbos are made to bolt onto the stock manifold.....just a suggestion but i think if you are willing to use 720's all around and a front mount, go with the bnr 60-1 turbo....make sure you get a rtek ecu along with the safc to tune it... should work out fine...might even hit 315-330whp if done correctly...good luck

he has an S5 turbo II, rtek is only for s4 rx-7s, its not compatable,
with 720's in the secondarys, and like a safc tuned properly, you should have enough fuel for what ever the stock turbo can dish out.

I wish I could get the rtek, but it won't work with an S5. I was looking on corksports website and it seems that that they have made an ecu, seems similar to the rtek, except it is a whole new ecu. Has anybody heard anything about them?

you guys are to trusting when it comes to a rtek "chip"
I would never trust any chip to control anything. Remember these engines are unforgiving. They do not allow you a learning curve. You are trying to piggyback a ecu that is coming up on 20 years old. Not smart.
I suggest if you want to spend as little money as possible you buy a direct plug and play megasquirt ems and then you can run as much fuel and boost as the tuning will allow.
500 bucks for a ems system and 1800 bucks for a rebuild.
Which one do you want to buy first?
