In my quest for upgrading and tuning up(regular tune up) my car one by one, I recently purchased a new fuel filter, since I'm sure that it hasn't been changed ever since purchasing the car. I hasn't been installed yet. But that's not why i made this thread. The reason why I made this, is so I can have more knowledge and know which fuel pump would be the best option for my next purchase. These are the fuel pumps that I know about: FD fuel pump, Walbro 255, and the Holley fuel pump. My car is a 91 NA S5.
After talking to a member on this board, I was told the the FD fuel pump is better, cheaper, and last longer than the Walbro 255. Then, from an outsider, I was told that the Holley fuel pump is more fuel efficient. I recently asked 200sx13b, about these 3 fuel pumps, and he made me question this even more, by saying that an external is louder than an internal. Which fuel pump would be a better purchase? Is this pump external/internal? Or is there a better fuel pump out there that I don't know about?

i am going to be using a supra tt fuel pump because it flows better then the walbro. well and that what my rx7 engine builder told me to use lol

I dunno but I had Rotorsports Racing put a RP Competition fuel pump from Rotary Preformance in my T2 when they did the upgrades on the engine 4 years ago. They have a newer version now that's even better. I figure if it works for them....

he drives an NA...........unless he has done substancial mods he will not need an aftermarket fuel pump..............what are your mods?

The reason why I'm doing this, is so I can get better flow. I assume, by getting a new fuel pump, it would not only give better flow, but atleast a little bit better gas mileage. The only mod i've done so far, was just a drop in K&N filter. I plan on changing my injectors and fuel rail, along with 02 sensor. I've already purchased a new fuel filter, since after buying the car, the previous owner hasn't done this. More of a reliable tune up. Unless, getting an aftermarket fuel pump isn't a reliable mod, but a waste of money. I'm still in the process of getting all of my fluids changed, and Hold button, fixed.

NA's don't need as much fuel as turbos do, unless the NA has huge ports.

I'm running an FD fuel pump with stock primary injectors, and 720cc secondaries. I don't see a reason why the stock fuel pump should be changed on your application though.

Edit: BTW, a header and free flowing exaust is the best bang for the buck for an NA in my opinion.

If you only have an intake, you will see no gains from any fuel system mods. The turbo guys need larger injectors and/or higher flowing pumps to support higher boost levels and therefore more power. But in order to get power out of your n/a, shes got to breathe better.

You do not need biger injectors you are runing rich as it is you can actualy gain HP from leaning it out. Just get your injectors cleand. Biger pump will just cause your rail presure to spike more and cause the injectors to run over there rated flow at a set duty cycle a upgraded pump will csot you HP and fuel econamy. Use a NA replacement pump.

You won't probably ever have your car to a point where it needs upgrades unless you're running a bridge, turbo, or supercharger. I say avoid that and send your money elsewhere.

Oh I never said anything about bigger injectors, just a replacement injector, like you mentioned. I would ask about leaning it out, but rather than asking how to do it, i'll search first. didn't know about the bigger pump rail problem, but now I see. That's off of my list, then. What about the fuel filter? Was that a waste of moeny as well? Since I mentioned that when I bought the car, it was sitting in the yard for 3 months, and never changed. Was it a waste, or a good thing?

Fuel filter IS a must.......try replacing fuel lines too if they seem to need it.

Fuel lines. Now we're talking about a small project. Since my fuel lines are covered with some plastic tubing that can come off easy, I'll check them tomorrow. i'm assuming I should be checking for hardness, and cracking on the lines.

edit: I downloaded 3 of them. The Auto-tranny, Rx7 91-92 Engine, and the 91 Tech data. I look at them from time to time.

Edit: I forgot to add, I'm also replacing my 02 sensor.
