fuel pump rewire : how to identify wires

Oh what an idiot I am ...
Was just working on installing my Walbro and doing a rewiring. But I cut off the connector at the front of the engine bay on the wrong side of my labels. So now I don't know which of the three blue and red wires I need to use.
Does anybody know how I can identify which of the three is the right one?

And while I'm at it, I'd like to install a switch to cut power to the pump. Which wire would be best suited for this, following these instructions for the rewire?
http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/rewire.htm

many thanks

Twist all four wires together (two blue and two blue/red) and solder then into one big join.

Jason, thx for the tip. Only one problem remains though ... I don't have the described black and white wire, but I have THREE blue/red ones and I don't know which of these three I need to hook the fuel pump up to (well the connnector that's moved to the back that is)

"why do you need to rewire your fuel pump? just wondering" i read that rewiring the fuel pump allows for a more solid and strong current to get to the fuel pump...correct me if i am wrong =)

yea cuz our cars are old, and it might loose current during his rev's and not enough fuel will be pumped into our motors, its a precaution so motors wont blow.

The wire colours are different for S4 and S5. Search for "fuel pump rewire" and you'll find the schematics that've been posted. I did one for S4's and someone posted a modified version for S5's.

hey nz how big of a wire did you use to make the new ground from the fuel pump? Also does the relocated relay get hot is that why it has a heatsink on it? if so do I need to keep it in open air??? Thanks

I used the same wire for the battery feed and the ground, 12GA from memory. The relay doesn't get hot, the resistor does (that's the finned bit). It does get quite hot, but it wouldn't burn you if you touched it. Make sure it sits clear of anything that might be affected by heat. I took the relay and resistor off their bracket and bolted them in the void inside the left rear guard where the antenna is. There's nothing else in there.

ahh thanks for the info. Right now I have it where the jack usually goes under some carpet so I need to get it out of there and where you have it. and the ground is made out of the speaker wire used to run from the front to the back (one one of the two wires only). I guess that ground should be good enough, only problem is that it's not that short of a ground. Closest bolst was about 10" away, is this bad? Thanks again nz!

This is the S5 diagram
https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...chmentid=49197
Now when I look at the wiring diagram from the factory service manual it doesn't seem to matter which of the three blue red wires I hook back up to the resistor/relay
http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory...tems_turbo.pdf
If an electrical guru can confirm me this I can continue and will be a happy camper again.

That's very, very bad! The ground wire carries the same current as the power wire from the battery, so it should be the same size. Using a tiny little wire like that will completely defeat the purpose of this mod. You should change it immediately.

I've never noticed it before, but I'm pretty sure those colours are wrong. The four looped wires serve a very different purpose to the two in the middle, so it's very unlikely they are the same colour. I'd confirm this info with a S5 owner who's successfully done this before continuing.

Thought I'd share what I've done in the meantime. At random I chose one of the three blue/red wire and attached the new wire to it. For the rest I just followed the standard rewiring procedure. Started the car up yesterday and it came to life on the first try. yeay!
So for an S5 TII it really doesn't seem to matter which of the three blue/red wires you use.
