fuel pump resistor relay question
#26
Bringing this one back....Hailers you were of course right. The ticking was coming from the BAC not the relay.
I did de-pin the green/red wire. I'm assuming it's normal to now be getting CEL of 51 for the resistor relay? There aren't any consequences from the CEL are there? Down the road I won't run into problems I'm not experienced enough to consider?

If the green/red wire isn't connected up, then the voltage will be alternator voltage all the time and no drop off to 9vdc when there is no load on the engine.
Might cause a little more wear on the fuel pump over the life of the pump. NZ Convertible I believe said there would be a little more fuel use, but frankly I doubt if you'd ever notice it. I run a 87na to turbo car with a stock turbo fuel pump and no fuel pump resistor relay at all. Bothers me not.
What happens if you reconnect that green/red wire. Something bad happens?
Opps. At safety/emissions testing....will they notice a engine check light? or not?

I'm fortunate, no emissions where I live. One of the loan benefits to living in the middle of nowhere.
I don't have the CEL lit up and annoying me by simply being there. Only reason I knew there was a CEL code was cause I pulled them today trying to track down poor idle problem.
A link to a semi-related thread I started, if anyone has time to read and respond
