everyone has that problem....i bought hex bolts to put back in after...but for getting them out try and use VICE GRIPS to grab them...if not use a DREMEL...but be careful and if it starts sparking id say STOP cause you dont wanna blow up....

Same problem here, I've soaked them in pb blaster a few times, but no luck, since the heads of the screws are so weak from the rust, they just strip. I have not spent alot of time on them since I don't have anything to replace my fuel pump with, I just wanted to see if the low pressure filter was clogged.

As for the dremel idea, do you mean to cut a slot for a flat head screwdriver?

I had the same problem. There are 2 ways you could go about it: you can get a chisel and a hammer and hit the heads at an angel. This is a long tedious process but it works. Option 2 is just knock off the heads and there is enough there to unscrew the threads with a vise grip.

impact screw driver. greatest thing ever. hit it with a hammer and it forces the bit in while doing a 1/4 turn.

i think im going to replace them with SS hex bolts though.

That's exactly what I repeatedly read here, so before I even looked at the fuel tank for my FD pump swap, I went out and bought a nice new impact driver set (I'd been looking for an excuse).

When I came to undo the screws, I sprayed them all with penetrating lube, left it a while and then checked one with a normal screwdriver first. It came straight out. And so did all the others! No impact driver, no damage to the screws.

So I still have a nice new (unused) impact driver set. Guess I'm just lucky...
