fuel pump problem

I have been trying to get my 87 t2 to fire w/ sucess only to have it die after the starter cuts out. checked the plug in the rear only to find out that the pump only gets power when the starter is on. It reads 12v then goes down to .1 and dies.
I dont know what could be causing it.

any ideas?

Afm is not hooked up or there is a major leak between the AFM and the throttle body

Try jumpering the fuel pump test plug (yellow two-prong plug with rubber boot by p/s strut tower) and see if you get it to fire and run.

AFTER checking the AFM that is.............
