Fuel pump powering issue

I’ve combed over the forum quite thoroughly and I’m stumped at this point. A couple months ago (my 7 is a garage queen) I did a brake rebuild, new MC, clutch master/slave, stainless clutch hose, and a new battery. Drove the car once, got to my destination and upon leaving the starter would barely crank, a lovely puff of smoke from under the hood, and a clutch pedal stuck to the floor. Turns out the battery to engine ground was never connected after a clutch job (previous owner) the engine to firewall ground took the hit and melted, along with the stainless clutch hose. Tore down the intake to clean up all the grounds and wound up replacing all the vacuum lines with silicone, FPD, fuel hoses gaskets etc. Now my fuel pump won’t prime with the key to “on”. If I bypass the relay under the dash - it primes, if I bypass my AFM - it primes. If I prime the pump, then disconnect my jumper, the car will start on the residual fuel pressure, but I can’t get the damned thing to start under normal circumstances. Admittedly I’m kind of stumped. My 15A engine fuse is intact, and my AFM ohms out within spec. Just curious if anyone has any additional input to things I may have missed/what I should look at next. I just want to drive the darn thing. Clearly my pump is functional, it’s just an issue getting voltage to the pump. Any ideas? It’s an 87 N/A with absolutely no mods whatsoever short of stainless brake hoses, and Atkins 5th and 6th port barrels. Sorry for the novel of a description.

Resolved

Turns out it wasn’t a fuel pump powering issue at all. The FSM illustration of the rat’s nest shows the incoming fuel line to be closer to the firewall than the return... at least that’s what I gathered from it.

So, needless to mention I’m eating crow for waiting until the rats nest was buried to reconnect my fuel lines, and basing said connection on a pencil drawing from 1987

on the upside, no more 3800 RPM hesitation. It’s jusy time to wash 2 months of garage dust, and being left in the rain overnight off.
