VA Fuel pump: do not buy this product

I bought this fuel pump kit from rockauto.com for around $50. The pump itself is perfect...the strainer is not. It is not a direct fit and will not work with the pump. I am about to email the company and complain and ask for a new strainer as I tried to modify thenew pump and strainer to work with each other and failed-resulting in having to use the old strainer...

Here are the pics...you can see how the strainer will not fit:

Then when the sock is clocked thus the alignment pin can fit into the location hole in the sock the metal of the bottom of the pump will interfere with the sock being able to be pushed all the way onto the mouth on the bottom of the pump:

FIRST off- your fuel pump is the last place you want to cut corners. I have a walbro and even that isn't a really good pump. SECOND- you have to really be an idiot to order anything from a website like that, all I looked at was the home page and you can tell it's a scam site.

If you saw a beautiful 3rd gen on craigslist for $200 APPARENTLY theres something not right there. Same thing with your pump- 50 bucks is to cheap, so it's either a scam or a pos.

I am working with Electric performance fuel pumps (brand I bought off rockauto) to recieve a new strainer that will work with the pump I installed. I like the pump if only the strainer fit. I guess I'm jumping to conclusions about telling people not to buy this product....hopefully it was just a mistake and the wrong strainer came with the correct pump...?? maybe? If so I'll ask a mod to delete this thread entirely..lets wait and see what PEFP sends me and I'll keep you guys updated.
