Fuel problem... (i think)

So I start my car, warm it up and it seems to be runnig as usual, then I'll have to admit I was running it at high rpm ( about 7-7.5K, not at redline) on and off for about 30 sec. in first gear. (I was sliding around on wet pavement. Then right as I pull out to take off I notice the motor sounding a lot differant (possibly fluded) but it did not die. It also lost almost all power. At this point I pull over again and check oil water fuses ect. then read in the book about a fuel pressure test (jumping this yellow plug) and the fuel pump stayed on, it was supposed to turn off after a few seconds). So figuring too much fuel won't destroy the engine i continue at about 35mph in second, its about all I would dare for fear of causing more damage. Then I stop at a light (engine ideling very low and poor, would occasionally die at idle) and notice smoke comming from the air vents and the hoop in general to I insatntly killed it and pushed it. I was wondering if the smoke could be from fuel leaking out and burning off on the exuast. and what causes the fuel pump to stay on. Could the sensor that tells the fuel pump to turn off have gone out and made a high pressure that blew something else out? Anyway what should I do next in the way of testing?
Thanks in advance any help is greatly appreceated.

If you are jumping the egi fuse then the pump will stay running. If it were fuel leaking then you should be able to smell it. If this problem is persisting then the first thing to get done is a compression test, considering that it happened after you were beating on it.

Well I jumped the test plug (wellow plug under hood near intake on passenger side, and I was running the rpm's pretty high but I was not under to heavy of a load since I was in first and it was wet, I don't think I even floored it... hope this info helps
BTW: it is a 91 N/A

Yep, do a compression test. That could cause the idling and flooding, etc.

ooo sounds like it's not gunna be something simple Like I had hoped. But why would lack of compression cause there to be a fuel pressure porblem... and the smoke?

Because bad compression is going to definately hurt your combustion efficientcy. Hence the lack of power, flooding, and smoke.

Yes that makes sence, ok I'll try to do the compression test tomarrow. Oh and another thig that I forgot to add: the smoke was not comming from the exaust, it was comming fron the back & lower part of the engine (from what I could tell).
Another thing I wanted to ask, when the fuel pump goes out does the motor usualy quit or is it a diaphram that busts. Basicly I was wondering is Noise from fuel pump = fuel pump is fine, or noise from fuel pump = not enough information to tell. Thanks for the advice guys! more testing tomarrow.

So are these all symptoms of a blown seal? is there nothing else that can cause something like this. Anyway I'm just tryig to be optimistic but the compression test will tell. Suppose the compression is fine, what are other possibilities?
