fuel pressure regulator

I jut replaved my engine and from what it looks like the fuel pressure regualtor on the new motor is on the smaller fuel rail, and the dampener is on the top longer fuel rail.

and on my old engine it was opposite

what does that mean ??? is that possible??

The fuel regulator is on the secondary fuel rail, the longer one. The regulator has a vac line running to it. You might have mistaken the pulsation dampner for the regulator.

yes I know that, thats exactly how my old motor had it

but the new motor that I received has the vacuum line (fuel pressure regulator) on the smaller rail (the lower one)

I dont understand it, and everything is working up to know except that I am leaning out at about 12inHg and 1inHg after that I start showing fuel on my a/f gauge
but I think thats becasue I have a vacuum leak

Didn't Mazda swap the PD and FPR positions on the J-spec and Euro cars?

I think the j-spec engines run the fuel in the opposite direction that ours do.... i KNOW that the lines are reversed...

check the lines.... if the pulsation damper is on the secondary rail, the the fuel filter should be before the secondary rail, instead of the primary like a US car...

the FPR HAS to be the last thing in the chain for it to work..... if your FPR is on the primary, then the line leaving the FPR should go to the return line to the tank... if its conncted to the filter.... then its *** backward

That's a J-spec engine. Just make sure the supply line (from the pump) connects to the rail with the pulsation damper and the return line connects the rail with the fuel pressure regulator. Otherwise it won't run.

It makes no difference which rail is fed first. All four injectors fire together over 3800rpm anyway.
