Fuel in the oil???

Has anyone ever heard of this and what causes it. I checked the oil the other day and it smelled like fuel. The next day I changed it, and it was really thin and smelled strong of fuel. What causes this? Thanks for any information. 87 TII

Hey James

Our friend does have same problem, we have not found anything whats causing it yet Fuel must be somehow leaking into oil system, but its internal leak - no leaks outside )

Here's some reading. You will always experience some contamination from the gas. Just keep up with the oil changes.

Could be a leaky injector?

I now its common on piston motors. Not sure if rotary has the same symptoms.

Well, the only way fuel is going to get into the oil is via injectors, unless someone poured it into the engine. He should have experienced a problem, eg flooding, drop in fuel mileage etc. Extended oil change, even possibly overly rich conditions on cold starts.
How about more info and maybe the guys can help.

Consistent flooding and/or worn oil control o-rings will cause this problem.&nbsp Also, incorrect porting will cause excessive blow-by.

How many miles does you car have? It could most likely be an old engine with low compression.

it's excessive flooding or Oil control rings going south. They are design to keep the thicker oil out of the combustion chamber, not excessive amounts of gas from getting to the oil.
