Fuel line replacement.
I found I have a big split in the fuel line that feeds the rail. The fuel line is not long enough to just cut and reinstall. My question is, do you have to remove the UIM to replace the fuel line. It seems to be buried under the UIM with not a lot of room to work with. It's an 87N/A.
Thanks for any replies.

I have replaced many vac lines and the fuel return line just not that one. I don't see any other way to replace it. I pulled the UIM two years ago and replaced everything that was old and brittle. Just don't have the time right now to pull the UIM.
That is the pressure line that feeds the primary rail. I'd you don't have time right now, You might be able to get a 5/16" male - male barb fitting in the meantime, if it is onlyy leaking on the filter side.
At the same time, There is no excuse for not fixing any fuel leak. I would consider just not driving it

Pulling the UIM takes very little time. Don't remember exactly...maybe an hour to re and re.
If it takes longer, you have very little tools. I know from experience, doing it before and after. For example, a good socket, plier, and gear wrench set helps quite a bit.
I'm not saying that's your problem, but posting to encourage people to work easier.

Thank you for all the sarcasm. That what I expect from some of you. No I am not driving it with a leak and I made the post from work. I am a test engineer for a major medical manufacturer and right now we are doing 80 hour 6 day weeks so there is little time to do anything else.
It's not my daily driver but just wondered if the fuel line could be replaced without taking off the UIM.
For the rest of the helpful posts thank you.

When I have the time I'll pull the UIM and give it a good cleaning and maybe eliminate the rats nest.
what am I missing?
its NOT your daily driver, so get to work when one line is bad the rest follow
if you have no time to repair it you will have even less free time if you have to get the car towed home and if it catches fire no more worries either
