fuel line
i have a leaky fuel line. was wondering how to fix this. just change the whole line? and can i use a brake line from an auto parts store? or could i just cut the leaky section out and replace it? by the way the lines are pretty rusty.

Taking shortcuts with your fueling system is NOT RECOMMENDED!!! And it can result in your car doing a reasonable impression of Chernobyl.

I did mine the other day, and it's a filthy bitch of a job. Make sure to depressurize the system before you start busting off lines.
I just did from the firewall back to the fuel pump. I don't think you'll have much success with ss brake lines unless ya feel like taking of the differential and a bunch of other crap.
I used ss line to just before the back axle, when ya gotta start routing crap all over the place. Then I used high pressure fuel hose (like $5 canadian a foot; around 4 feet should do) back to the pump.
Get some cheap bigger hose, cut it and wrap it around the high pressure hose where ever it contacts rusty ol' metal, so it doesn't chafe at the hose, then stick it on there with some plastic ties.
Also make sure to get the hose clamps made for fuel line, which don't have a sharp inner lip to catch/cut line. Check for fuel leaks when repressurizing and to ensure adequate exhaust clearance (shouldn't be a problem).
If you're gonna do the high and low (return) pressure sides, try not to mix em up like I did! No damage done, just felt like a tard and almost killed the battery.
Mike.

ok, i probly sound stupid but, so how do u depressurize the system?
for the bigger hose, cut and wrap? do u mean to buy a larger diamater hose to act as a coupler? or something of the sort? which line is which? cause i was planning on doing both considering the are both pretty rusty. i just dont wanna screw it up considering the is the first time ive played with fuel lines. and the last question i have is, to represurize u just turn the key to the on position right?

to depressurize - find 6 pin plug on rear driver side strut tower - under the carpet. Unplug it. This will discon the fuel pump. Then crank the engine over till it stalls out. Voila- depressurized fuel system.
Repressurize - replug fuel pump in back. Find yellow test-connector behind/under the air filter box. ground out the test connector, turn key to on position. You should hear the fuel pump rev up. Keep it running for about 10 seconds, turn key off. Disconn yellow test connector. Start engine.
BTW - this and other helpful hints can be found in you friendly Hayes and Factory Service manuals.
