fuel injectors dont open

I just replaced engine in my 87 n/a rx7, and it wont start because the fuel injectors wont open. the injectors are in working order (tested them and you can hear them click) and the wire has current running through it (checked at main relay and at ecu) but they wont open when you try to start the car. i dont know if there is a sensor or something that would screw up the ECU thus prohibiting the injectors from opening. also i have spark at all the plugs, so both coil packs work, and the engine is used but has only 30,000 miles on it, and has good compression. if anybody has any idea, let me know. thanks

my stepdad is a mechanic and he checked it out, there is electrical current, but there is no "noid" which from my understanding is the signal from the ECU. there is this little "noid" plug that goes into the injector connector and it should light up when you turn the key, but it doesnt light up.

I guess next thing to check would be the fuel delivery (pump, fuel lines connected correctly)...Is the "new" engine a J-spec?

pull up the schmatic for the circuit, if he's a mechanic he knows all about that. Trace the path from the injector back, run the proper test at each connector/point to wittle the problem down. Good luck, also since you're talking turbo i'd get the injectors cleaned as SwooshMan said, they can take a turbo down hard and fast.

Disconnect the middle plug on the ECU and see if there is a good ground on pin 2R of THE PLUG.

Then pull the small plug off the ECU and see if there is a good ground on pin 3A of THE PLUG.

Can you remember if you connected up the ECU ground ring terminal on top of the engine??? Located on the rear rotor housing, approx 2inches off centerline. Yes, that is where the grounds for the ECU are located.

But on second thought...you have spark so the grounds are probably connected. Who knows.

Ah ha. Are you putting this noid outfit on the fuel injectors just below the throttle intake??? Those are secondary injectors and won't fire until 3500 rpm. Just a thought.
