Fuel Injector Question.

I think i am in need of my fuel injectors needing cleaning, pretty positive but not sure, i wen't to a local mechanic and asked how much it would cost me to clean them, he said like 100 dollars because they run them through "special chemicals" i dunno if this is legit or not, and that is actually how you clean them... respond back to me if that sounds legit to you... because i am hearing it is more of a specialized thing..

Cleaning or rebuilding, which includes cleaning. I got all 4 or mine rebuilt for $100.

There is a way to test them with a stethescope to see if they are functioning correctly while in operation, as in, the car is running. You can actually hear if they need replacement parts, most of the time though, its just a cleaning issue. I know the stock RX7 injectors last a long assed time, I got mine done at cruzin for 60$ (cleaned, not rebuilt) and according to the flow tests, mine were 95% on the ball. Thats pretty good for 17 year old injectors!

Anyways, the test I'm pretty sure, is in the FSM under fuel system.

If you need quick turn-around there are diesel shops in most towns that offer clean & test benches.
Call around you area.

www.cruzinperformance.com is about the best mail out deal.

Send them to an injection shop to have them properly cleaned. You probably have a local guy who does it. Look up "injection" in the yellow pages, or call an diesel shop.

Yes, it is typical to run "cleaner" chemical through them for cleaning.
How else would you clean them?
$20 - $25 per injector is the typical price for service.
"Rebuilding fuel injectors" is a minomer - the fuel injector really can't be broken down and "rebuild".
Typically it's called "blueprinting" - they test flow rates and such before and after cleaning.
