Fuel injector cleaners
Do those bottles work that you put in your gas tank? I didn't think they did but searching some have found it useful. Just curious because I don't know if I want to get into taking out the injectors.

If your injectors haven't been cleaned in a long time, then probably no amount of "in the tank"cleaner will do any good. Taking the injectors out is not that hard, but it is a pain in the a$$. But you can't go wrong sending them off to a pro. The only thing you will have to get is probably the air bleeds. (But you might want to look into changing out the pulsation dampener.) The cleaners should furnish you with new grommets, O rings and caps. As far as the procedure for taking out the injectors, the FSM does a good job in stepping you through the process.

The main problem with sending the fuel injectors is you can't drive while they're gone! I would have sent mine out a long ago except i need something to drive around.

Nothings beats pulling the injectors off and taking them somewhere to be professionally cleaned. The only other thing i would think about would be a good carbon cleaner. Fuel injector cleaner's chance of doing something for you is pretty unlikely.

Sea Foam is about the only stuff that will do any good when mixed into the gas tank and you will need to use alot of it. Probably 1 can with 1 tank of gas 3-4 times in a row on cars of this age to make any difference. I run a bottle of it with a tank of gas in all my cars every 15k miles.
Sea Foam Is a true miracle product.
I use it as the "water" with the water/vacume hose trick and i dump half a can or so of it into the "crank case" (oil filler neck) 500miles before every oil change.
My RX-7 ran kinda rough when i bought it but after a full set of these treatments runs purrrfectly.
Most of the "fuel injector cleaners" out there do almost nothing.

Why would you send them away? Get the injectors cleaned locally, almost any diesel shop can do them so that you can be back driving the car the same day.
