fuel cut questions
Hi,
Last weekend I finally installed my straight pipe on my 88' t2.
It has a ported wastegate on stock turbo, new engine with goopy seals.
I installed a hks FCD and set it to "12", but i'm still hitting fuel cut whenever I approach 0.5bar of boost. Also the stock boost gauge is still functioning, I remember my buddy's t2 with fcd this stopped moving ?
Any idea what could be the issue? I installed the fcd like the manual says. to be sure i measured wich wire gave the signal from the boost sensor with a multimeter. It's a used FCD out of my other buddy's impreza wrx.

I'd fix the bolt first, then go through and check for vacuum/boost leaks. Also, sometimes those crappy worm clamps on the intercooler piping can still allow a boost leak, even when tight. Might check those out too while you're at it.

Allright. I will but i don't see how that will make me hit fuel cut? doesn't it mean i'm just making less boost than possible?

yup, but if you aren't getting the right mix in the engine, its going to fight you either way. I'd hook up a better boost gauge and get an accurate measurement.
How do you know you're hitting fuel cut?

Oh ok, well i have an aftermarket boost gauge and i see it go up to 0.5bar under full throttle. at around 5-6krpm WOT it bogs for a split second, it seems to hestitate. i figured this was the fuel cut? or am i wrong? Also the stock boost gauge still works while its not supposed to (i have been told) so i guess the FCD isn't functioning either due to bad installation/setting or defective fcd.

Fuel cut is quite violent. It's like the engine abruptly hits a wall.. definitely throws you forward in your seat and the engine sounds like it's got a Jake break.
I'd do away with the fcd and get a standalone or find an appropriate rtek.. preferably a 2.1.
I also agree you need a proper boost gauge... and some way to be able to log the afrs.
What's your afr when this happens?
