NJ fuel cut question.

Hi. I have 88 T II ae, now here's my question..
would a cat back system and a knn drop in filter makes your boost raise enough to hit a fuel cut?
my car stumble when under WOT on 3rd gear and up.. from what read in racing beat website, changing to a full turbo back will raise boost because the cat is no longer there to restrict exhaust flow. they also mention changing the intake will also raise up the boost 2-3 psi..

again my question is, is my exhaust and intake causing me to hit fuel cut?
or do it sounds like other problems..

thanks in advance..

Yes it would. Port your wastegate or go to pocketlogger.com for an rtek 1.7 and source high imp 720cc injectors.

Maybe. The main restrictions are the turbo inlet duct (TID) and the cats, but small changes might allow the ~1 psi increase needed to hit fuel cut. Stock boost on an S5 is 7.5psi, and fuel cut is at 8.6psi, so it's not far off. Take a look at the boost gauge while at WOT or better yet, get an aftermarket gauge.

Depends on what tools you have. I bought an air fed porting kit from biglots for like 20 bucks, and ported my wastegate huge. I then welded a new washer on the flapper door. I have 80mm exhaust from the turbo out with no cat and does not creep at all.

Any respectable metal shop can do the work with no issue.

Also if you upgrade to a bnr compressor, it is included in the price.

Yup.... rtek is def worth it. I have a 1.5 and have been really happy with it. Upgrading to a 1.7 and bnr stage 3 soon though.

Yeah, don't buy a FCD. They screw up your timing by giving the ecu false pressure numbers. Not to mention, if you're boost creeping enough (w/out fuel upgrades), the FCD will allow enough overboost to blow the motor.

You should get a die grinder to port the wastegate...although it'd probably be the same price as giving it to a machine shop to have it done. Machine shops just have a thing about charging out the *** for small jobs.

The back plate has the come off, and possibly the turbine housing. I did mine without taking the housing off, but I plugged / taped off anywhere metal shavings could fall.

I did it on an S4 turbo without taking the housing off and it started to puff out MASSIVE amounts of white smoke shorty after...

I did it on an S5 with the housing off and its running great. It really wasn't hard...just some 13mm bolts. Remove them evenly (make sure you don't put stress on one side) and tap the housing with a rubber mallet. Mark it the location of the housing and center section with white-out in several places. Mine gave me no problems whatsoever on reassembly.
