it allows higher than stock boost on Turbo motors, by "tricking" the ECU to think there is less boost that there actually is.

do you think I could get an official answer on how how high can you safely boost with the stock fuel system?

10psi all day long with the stock fuel pump, stock injectors......good engine. Not all day long if you have a high milage engine or a low milage engiine that's worn out. Just my personal experience with two cars/engines. No scientific data. Just two engines that are still running and are driven daily.

Stock non turbo system runs out around 225HP... so I wouldn't figure more than about 6 psi.

This answer is exactly right but when you "trick" the ECU into thinking there is less boost then there actually is, this should tell you something, you probably aught to consider changing your fuel system. There are several people who haven't but IMO you should do a fuel controler pretty soon after putting in an FCD.

there is a little box which i think is a FCD on the passenger side under the hood next to the MAF w/ 2 connectors. some1 correct me if i'm wrong. when i connect one of the wires from the FCD? my car runs crappy as hell. it barely keeps idle and my check engine light comes on. when i hook the wires back to stock it runs fine. what the hell is the problem here?

If you hook up and FCD incorrectly... it will tell the computer that the car is at 8PSI of boost when the car is idling and it will run rich as hell and cause all sorts of problems!!!
