6th port soleniod question

i am doing the rotary resurrection 6th port act (electric) and well this project sucks so far. I found what i think is the vent to atmosphere, but where the hell in the "input" for the ports on a N/A S4? i found a vac hose coming off the cat air pipe that connects to a metal "Y" that goes into the engine. Is that it? because it is close to the 5th and 6th soleniod thingy's but doesnt look connected to them. Anyone have a good detailed descrition or better yet, a picture of what i am looking for? also, are the 5th and 6th act. by the same single hose or is that what the Y is for?

Pressure to open the S4 aux ports comes strictly from exhaust back pressure.

The S5 uses air pump pressure from the ACV & a solenoid.

not what i am looking for, i already know it works off backpressure. Here is the problem, no cat and the pipe is not connected. Meaning i need to do the above.

Yes, the small vac hose coming off the cat air pipe is the input to both the aux ports actvation on a S4.

This is what you would see looking under your s4 LIM

the "Y" you spoke of is to the left, you can see it connects to the 6-port actuator manifolds on either side of the LIM by Banjo bolts sealed with copper washers.

the pressure then goes through the LIM and into the actuators. THere is a gasket between the actuator mounts to seal this up.

Mazda changed this design for the s5's so that the pressure goes directly into the actuator via a vaccume hose instead of passing the air through the LIM first. (much better design IMO because you don't have to worry about the damn gaskett sealing like on your s4)

The second pic shows the air path in pink

one last question, i want to run a vac hose from the vents of the soleniods to the intake manifold to ensure they close, can i have a close up of the soleniod vent so i know what to change to make a vac hose fit? or can someone give me an idea as to how to go about doing this?

I wouldn't do that.... they have internal springs that keep them closed (adjusters on the bottom)

BUT IF YOU MUST PLAY... you could use a 1-way valve like is found on other parts of the vac rack (green and white spheres with an arrow indicating direction that air can flow) inline with the tube..

seriously though.. .. this is a PITA you don't need
