Fuel Cut Defender Question
So I'm about to order a fcd for my turbo swapped gxl. I did not do the swap myself, but the person who did tried to use the turbo wiring harness, but couldn't get it to run. I even took it to a rotary shop in town and couldn't get it to work. I gave him my n/a wiring harness and we got it to run perfectly. So I have a 91 gxl, with an S5 TII motor with a N370 ECU. So I'm ordering this part.

And I called RB and Rx7store.net and asked a local rotary guru if this will work with my harness and none of them know. Will this work with my set up???

So I talked to Chance (lovely idol on the forum), and he's saying that the fcd won't work with the n/a wiring harness.
Then I talked to my friend Ian (ian1.1 on the forum) who did my motor swap, and he's saying that the fcd plugs into where the boost sensor is. Well idk about s4s, but my gxl had a N350 Boost Sensor, so when I did my motor swap, I plugged in the N370 Boost Sensor in. So he's saying all I need to do, is unplug my boost sensor, plug in the fcd, and plug the boost sensor into the fcd, and I should be good to go.
Who is correct?

the pinout between the S5 NA and S5 turbo, is exactly the same except for the VDI/6pi and knock/boost control.
so this means that the FCD goes in exactly like Ian says.... because its just an S5 and all S5's turbo or not are wired the same, its just that the NA uses a sensor with a different range, because its not a turbo

It will fit either harness' boost sensor connector. The only difference is the cutoff voltage between the S4 and S5, which should be higher for an S5. There are tests that show Racing Beat and others' FCDs clamping early, well before the cutoff limit.
If you wind up getting an RB FCD, you may want to adjust the clamping voltage a bit higher to ensure that you stay in the proper fuel map as high as possible (with considerations/buffer room for temperature altering the voltage). You can make your own FCD for a lot less, or buy one from someone selling the DIY FCDs still. Best of luck, mate! Don't pop it!

keep an eye on the plug where there are 2 red and 2 black wires per spade connector. one of each(red and black) wires in mine wasnt crimped well into the spade connector and pulled out therefore making the FCD not defend lol
oh, and when it says "stock boost gauge will not display correct pressure", it wont work at all lol
