Fuel Cut Defender question

Ok now, for some odd reason my FCD is not working properly, and I was just wondering if I disconnect my battery if it would reset it so it would work? Im not sure if mine is home made or if it is an aftermarket fcd... but if anyone has any type of info on this that would be appreciated....

it should not "reset" if power is unplugged.

It has no memory to reset, it's just signal in and modified signal out.

Has it always done this or has it just started?

from what i understand they dont cost that much, so the best solution would probably be to simply replace it. im not sure how they are made or what they consist of. but im sure its some sort of solid state filter that fools the ECM. so trying to repair it might be more effort and time spent than what its worth in monatary aspects.

im not saying dont try to fix it, cause you might be able to and would make for a good writeup!

all i know is you can no longer get smaller electrical components like diodes and capasitors from Radio Shack. they have efectively turned into a hobby/cellphone/computer accsesory depot.

so you may need to reasearch to find a good sourse for electrical components.

otherwise good luck and i hope you figure it out!! write it up!!

No it just started doing this a day after I got my new clutch put in. The fcd was working just fine before I got a new clutch.

So yeah I'm going to disconnect it and take a look at it tonight to see if any resistors or anything is burnt out... if so I'm might as well just either buy a new one or rebuild this one....
