fuel cell sending unit

How hard is it to install a sending unit to a fuel cell designed without one? My idea is to run my stock tank and use a 3-5 gallon cell in the engine bay. When the one in the engine bay's fuel cell gets low, have the stock tank with the stock pump fill up the smaller cell thats in the engine bay with the larger pump as well. but they stop putting sending units in the fuel cells at about 10 gallons. Any idea's?

Why would you want to do something like that?

A) It sounds like you just want a surge tank, in which case, you just run two pumps constantly, no need for the sending unit. The 'tank' pump, will fill the tank in the engine and then any excess will flow back to the tank, you can determine size based upon how quickly the surge tank will empty with your fuel requirements.

B) if you're that worried about pressure drop, you seriously need to consider a new pump.

A. why would you want to run two? the pump will ****** some power. would be nice just to have it on when you need to fill the tank up

b. i'd need a considerable larger pump to make up for the 2-4 "s" style gas coolers
