fubared?

i recently bought a T2 for $400; now dubbed "the $400 headache" i knew there was an exhaust leak somewhere on the turbo. i found the leak, the manifold to turob gasket was broken and only 3 of the 4 studs were in said manifold, plus each nut could be turned by hand. the manifold is fubar, i know that for sure. there are tons of large cracks running all though it.
my question is about the turbo.
i tried putting white paint in the cracks to make them more visable. it didn't really work but it does make them easier to see.
i need some opinions on this. this is my first turbo car so i have no real knowledge.

just want to know if this is still usable.

that turbo looks pretty hammered, personally i think you should try and find one in better condition. i have never seen a crack run the full length of the runner, i can just imagine how bad the cracks are in the turbine housing..

hmm. so its pretty well tost then?
the crazy thing is there is minimal play in the bearings.
so what is an effective replacement turbo for the T2? (yes i will search for this as well)

well you dont have to replace the whole turbo.. all you have to replace is the turbine housing. there is about 6 or 8 bolts that hold it on. you unbolt it pop it off than you can install a different one.
