FTP Cleaning.. do it, it's worth the 2 hrs.

I decided to take out my nasty ftp lenses and shine them up. I am very happy with the results. It took me about 2 hours to do. Used fine grit sandpaper and dremel with polishing kit.

I bought an assortment of grits at Pep-Boys. 320, 400, 600 800 for $2.99 and a pack of 1000 grit $2.99. Total cost $6.

work your way up the sandpaper grits I posted.. use some water with the 800 and 1000 grit. Then use a dremel (since I don't have a real buffing wheel) with the polishing kit. The one that comes with the polishing compound and misc. buffing wheels and drums.

I think I paid $15 for it at home depot.

BTW.. if you need to clean inside the FTP (I did they were dirty inside) you have to remove the front lense.. it's easy to do though. Just use a hairdryer to heat up around the lense and pull it appart. The heat will melt the rubber glue that holds it together. Installation is the same.. use the hairdryer as you push the lense back on. It's really easy.
