FSM wiring diagram for dash instruments

I did a little weight reduction gone awry. I was pruning my wiring harness under the dash, getting rid of some old harnesses for the AC and logicon and cut a few too many wires. Some of the cut wires went to the plug for the dash instrument cluster. I spent a few hours reconnecting them to like-colored wires on the turn signal unit and main harness down by the ECU, but my dash and turn signals are still dead.

FC electrical gurus, can you recommend a starting point in the FSM where I can hunt for the correct routing of my instrument bezel wires?

TIA . . . I'm no good with anything electrical.

Did you get all of the wires needed matched and back together?

What do you mean by "routing"?

That wiring diagram is for the S5. The S4 wiring is totally different.

Look on pages 50-40 (schematic), 50-41 (plug layouts) and 50-42 (plug locations) in the online 88 FSM. All the info's there.

Well I figured out my instrument problem . . the black with yellow stripe wire is the positive for all the instruments and I traced it using the Haynes diagram . . it leads to the ignition switch after going through the fuse box.

It looks like I also messed up my turn signals. I cut one wire coming from the turn signal relay and it is a light green wire coming from the bottom of the CPU black box that should go to the "control unit" . . I'm thinking the ECU but the only light green wire coming off it goes to one of the injectors ..

This is why I hate electrical systems. Wire colors don't necessarily tell the story. The positive that I had to splice to get my instruments working was a light blue wire, not a black and yellow one.

Just pointing out that it wouldn't be much use with his S4...

Yeah that is why they should specify model and year when posting... but many members are too lame

Sorry . . S4 NA

And I fixed the flasher by wiring in a pair of $2.50 autozone flashers in lieu of the cpu's complex flasher circuit. I'll only take so much crap trying to fix an overly complex system before I start fabbing my own setup.

It's not complex at all. It's basically the same as the flashers you bought, just shrunk in size and mounted on a PCB with lots of other systems to save space.

well actually he bought thermal/mechanical flashers for that price, rather than electronically controlled flashers.

Hey there's nothing wrong with them other than current drain. I don't win street races so I don't need hazards anyway. In 10 years of driving I have never once needed them.
