Front suspension clunk?

Hey guys once again im puzzled by my car.

Ive had this problem for a while now and i tink its gettin worse. Whenever i brake, at around 20km/h i hear a clunk that seems to be coming from the front left. Its also felt in the brake pedal. Im not sure if its audiable from outside.

Now, if i get on the brakes at higher speed and maintain brake force, it wont clunk until the car slows to about 20km/h. If i hit the brakes at ~20km/h then it will clunk right away.
recently it started to clunk twice, seems liek its coming from both sides now.

I checked all front suspension and brake bolts and nuts, alls tight. Im puzzled, but could it be the master cylinder?

thanks guys,
Jakob

One or both of your front shocks are blown, or have a bent shaft. I had the same thing happen to me. Stand over your car, and bounce the car right next to each of the shock towers. It should clunk if the shock is messed up.

Another thing it could be is a broken engine mount.

missing bolt perhaps?

Either you have a brake caliper sticking or you are missing a bolt on your suspension. I had a bolt missing on my front right stabalizer bar. that made a similar clicking noise you described. jack up the car and check for missing bolts. then move on to checking your brakes.

good luck. =)

I really dont know how to check the engine mounts without taking them off, which you need an engine hoist for. But the engine will not fall out or anything, even if both mounts are broken. Mazda designed them in a fail-safe sort of way, and they still work even if the rubber part breaks. You will have a little more engine vibration, etc though.
