Front subframe identification help

Front subframe identification help
Hello all. Those of you with unmolested FCs in one piece or any gurus out there...can anyone tell me what these two tabs (yellow arrows in picture below) on the inside edge of the subframe are for? I.e. does anything bolt/mount to them?

on some of the fancy models there was a cover that went there, there are two or three more holes. LRB Speed sells a reproduction

I'm original owner of a 90 GXL and as far as I recall, I don't believe those holes are used for anything. They were probably used for fixturing the subframe during its fabrication.
