front side housing

i am in the proscess of rebuilding my 91 n/a 6 port and when i disambled it today i was removing the O rings from the front side housing and i found that the O ring was pushed through a crack in the inner O ring going into the water jacket on the exhaust side, my question is has anyone else had this happen, or have a relibable fix or is it better to buy a new side housing.

thanks

I've seen a few engine where the metal that forms the seal channel has broken away completely. I've heard that it may be possible to build this area up with JB weld, but F%ck that, I'd get a new side housing.

DEFINITELY do not try to weld or otherwise plug the hole. Nonturbo irons are very common, just get another. I have a shelf full if you are in need.
