Question Front end rebuild?

I'm looking to buy an 88 rx7 but would like to learn a bit more first. The one I'm looking at has some problems in the front end, it grinds pretty loud, what is likely to be the problem and how expensive is it to fix. Forgive me, I don't know a lot about these cars yet.
Anything else to look for before I buy?
thanks
Gordon

Explain the grind... when does it occur? When you steer? Which direction? Over bumps? What are the circumstances under which it happens?

Ask the seller if he'd agree to drive it to your mechanic, and then you pay the shop for an hour of their time to give the car a once-over. It's a good approach if you're not all that knowledgeable about cars, and may save you from buying a car that needs more than you'd want to spend in repairs.
