Front end clicks when turning the wheel?

Pardon me, for I am a noob. Been tryin my hardest not to post any questions, but I have no idea where to even being searching.

The front end makes a clicking noise relative to me turning the wheel. If I turn slow, it clicks slow, if I turn fast, it clicks fast. S5 GXL (power steering) if that helps any.

some of the plastics under the fender may be touching the tire when your turning.

Actually, I haven't even been under the car yet.. Only got it a week ago and it's been real stormy up here in the NW, and todays my first day off since I got the car. I'm going to be doing all the usual (fluids, spark plugs, filters, etc) in a little bit today, I was just hoping to get a general idea of what I should be looking for.

From the outside looking at the suspension everything looks fine, no leaks or broken parts. Wheels aren't rubbing the inner fenders.

My other car's been sitting up on my jacks for a while, and in a little bit I'll finally have it done and ready to be back on the ground, and then I'll be inspecting my FC

Check in this order if it makes the sound while turning the wheel, vehicle NOT in motion: Outer Tie rods, Balljoints, Inner Tie Rods, Wheel Bearing. See sig. for link to FSM. If it clicks while making a turn, check CV joints.

uhhmmm..i'm pretty sure that's only true for fwd cars.unless he has a civic then that might be his problem.cause on rwd cars, the cv axle could be clicking even when going straight if they are shot.either accelerate or decel or going through bumps and compressing the rear suspension.

I have the same probelm

I have the same problem with my 89 convertible, also with power steering. The clicking goes away on warm days. Show up in late September, leaves in late April (at least in New Hampshire). I haven't noticed that it affects handling. the wheels aren't loose when I yank on them and it makes the noise whether whether I moving or stationary when I turn the wheel. I think it's an un-lubricated bushing. I have been trying to figure out which one. Like every one else, I have plans. Mine is to upgrade the suspension this winter. In the process, I'll swap out the bushings. Hopefully, this will solve the problem.

Keep this thread posted if you figure it out. Thanks.

I know mine doesn't 'click' but 'knocks' on occasion when I'm cranking the wheel all the way, and just beginning to accelerate *like when at a stop sign, turning.* I just figure it's my shot suspension \=

It's the springs, they make that noise when the strut bearing doesnt move freely, mine is doing it too, i'm not sure why, i thought i put everything back together right when i changed my struts.

Basically the springs are rotating on the bottom of the strut, instead of staying it the same spot.

I'd suggest making sure the springs are stil rotated properly.

My mind wandered to my dd, which is a Front wheel drive (200SX SE-R) so ignore that clicking cv joints noise at the front comment.

Re wheel bearings - if the preload is not set properly, or if they're just worn, they will make noise. Also, tehmonkey made a good point re strut mounts.
