front diff mount weight?
I am getting my front mount of the rear diff redone in poly. I was wondering what the front diff weight does? I am talking about the rectangle box bolted on to the front of the diff mount bracket.

there are two rectangle boxes, one is a vibration absorber, the other is the actual mount bushing. Changing the vibration absorber to poly won't do anything, except cause more vibrations as the stock one has a metal interior and pretty heavy IIRC. changing the dif mount to poly may cause more vibrations than the stocker, as its poly. I'd say get a new stocker, since it will probably cost less than a fab'd poly.

thanks kenteth. i was talking about the one for vibrations i guess, and i will leave that one stock. I think it would still be better to make the other box out of poly since it will stiffen things up.
as for karack.......ummm? ok lol

He's talking about parts of the mount, not the differential itself. DSM people generally refer to a front (or center) diff on AWD cars and etc, so people get confused.

never seen them in poly but Mazdatrix has a sport mount with a stiffer rubber in the mount:

the metal block is to absorb the driveline vibrations, which if you use poly it is counterproductive anyways. the stiffer bushings will transmit more vibrations through the body than the stock bushings but they will be able to handle more torque which i'm sure you don't care about anyways so i wouldn't worry about the metal vibration damper.

you dont need to say rear diff, as there is only one diff in the RX7.
you could run a solid diff mount, like I did, the increase in perceptable vibration is minimal.
