front cover swap

i am going to swap the front cover of an s4 engine with that of an s5 engine so i can put the s4 engine in an s5 chassis. I was wondering if anyone could give me instructions on the best way to swap covers and oil pumps.

Thanks
Noel

When you have the motor out of the car lay it facing upwards (with the flywheel facing down) and remove the front cover. Definatly replace the gasket. It's pretty straight foward... the way it comes off is the way it goes back on. Lay the parts on the floor neatly in the order in which you took them off and put them back in reverse. Nothing has to be altered for the OMP, (oil metering pump) it's a bolt on since your using the S5 cover.

I have a 87 block in my 90. Everything was a perfect fit between the two, except the OMP. That's the only reason for changing the front cover.

No everything is a COMPLETLY PERFECT match... The 87' motor/block will take EVERYTHING from the 90, except you have to use the 87 flywheel, and of course the front cover.
