front cover oil leak

my car is an s5 with the infamous front cover oil leak. I was wondering if there is any kind of sealant that I can put on to stop it without removing the cover. This only has to last a few months (hopefully) because I plan to port (and by necessity rebuild) it, and I can take car of it then.
If not, how hard is it to remove the cover? Does the eccentric pulley bolt need to come off?
Come on, please tell me that generous RTV sealant smeared on the side will solve it.

If you smear some blue RTV over it (if it's small enough) you can usually plug it up for a short while (not SHORT TERM) It usually will work just fine.

Screw that! Mazdatrix even suggests not using gaskets once you take it apart and reassemble, RTV! :-)
