Front brace/bar and v-mount question

I want to start by saying that I'm sorry if this has been been done a lot before, but Im just not coming up with the answers I'm wanting. Maybe my search-fu is off tonight...

Anyway, I'm in the process of fabbing up a custom v-mount, and that damn bar in the front is in the way. I know that some people leave it there and work around it, but I just can't get the radiator in a position I like where the bar isn't going to be blocking a decent bit of airflow.

My question is: how necessary is that bar, really? I know a lot of the kits get rid of it and replace it with a bar that looks questionable to me so I wonder if I can just get rid of it altogether? I am getting a strut brace and a lower arm bar from Himni.

Its not necessary, in fact the bar is not fully welded to the frame. It only has 4 spot welds on each side. Make sure you find a spot for the oil cooler and horns, as they all sit/mount on that bar.

I retained the bar. See my build thread for pics of how I mounted mine.

I actually already saw yours and thats what I was originally planing (I even bent the oil cooler mounts backwards so it would still fit in the same relation to the radiator) but I just couldn't make it fit. First, I have a large fan on the rad that I'd rather not get rid of that will actually hit the water pump pulley in the location; second, it sat the intercooler at too high of an angle, and third, I have a top-mounted T-70 turbo, and the radiator outlet was literally inside the front of the turbo.
I've got a few plans on where I can put it. I'm going to play around with it this weekend and see what I can come up with now that I know I can get rid of that damn bar.

Bar is gone! I think I'm going to start up a build thread on this to document everything.

If I was to go Vmount, I would definelty remove the bar (it would allow for the radiator to be mounted at a different angle + moved forward. I would also go with a hood pins (or something similar) and remove the OEM hood latch, this would allow for the intercooler to be mounted right under the hood latch bar.

Without measuring things, that's how I see it in my head

Thats definitely one of the ideas I tossed around in my head. Honestly, a whole lot of it depends on the intercooler you want to use and if you are keeping the stock rad or not. I've got a oem-fitment fluidyne so I didn't want to tilt it forward to the point that the outlet pipe was the lowest thing. Also, I'm running a pretty large intercooler as I have a large turbo with aims of over 500 at the wheels. As such, its a 3.5" core that is 10.5" deep. I don't want any of the core blocked by anything, so that means it has to sit in front of the upper bar. This location also allows me to keep the oem hood latch and I can cut a nice hole in the hood without compromising any major structural members.
These requirements put the radiator in a very exact spot, which butts up directly against that lower bar which effectively blocks the bottom several inches of the rad. Cutting out the bar eliminates that, plus it allows me to shift it back another inch or so, which allows the intercooler to sit a bit lower which makes ducting through the hood easier.
The final difficulty is that my turbo sits pretty far forward, so it REALLY interferes with where I want to put the rad. I discovered last night that I can actually shift the rad all the way to the dirvers side frame rail and it clears the inlet of the turbo, which has the added bonus of making it easier to place the filter.
I mocked it up last night holding stuff in place with string (lol) and it seems to work out like it did in my mind. I'm going to grab some bars from the hardware store later today and try to mock something up.

Seems like you have put some serious thought into it Hope things work out as you have envisioned it, and post pics when you get a chance
