Front of 88' GXL

I noticed that some models say Mazda on the front lip next to the left running light.. Does anyone know if it should say that on an 88' GXL?? Mine does not and I have been wondering if that is original or if it was replaced?? Thanks for the help..

On 89-91 cars it will have Mazda written in raised letters on the urethane front bumper cover.
on 86-88 cars it will have Mazda displayed on a sticker in the same location.

Your car should have had the sticker. They were not very attractive, and it was either removed for aesthetics preference, or when the car was repainted.
If the paint is original, you might be able to see an outline from where the sticker originally sat, as the paint underneath it would have been protected from sunfading, and thus would look brighter than the surrounding area, depending upon when the sticker was removed.

Usually, if these cars were in an accident in the past few years by other owners or even RX-7 enthusiasts they were fixed with aftermarket replacement items (hoods, fenders, etc...). Every aftermarket nose comes without the sticker and most body shops won't even put the OEM mazda sticker back on...also, the S5 noses in the aftermarket do NOT have the embossed mazda logo so they look a lot better (although they don't fit was well). Check out victoria british - for anyone with an S4 car who needs a new nose/bumper cover get the S5 from them. They are the only ones I know of who still stock it and it's only $199!!
