Fried alternator?
Fried alternator?
I put one of those aftermarket high decibel horns in my car. After using it one day, the car started running pretty crappy, limped it home, now it won't start.
A little starter fluid will make it kick for a second or two, then it dies. I've got spark and fuel.
All the fuses are good.
Could I have fried the alt? Or possibly fried something else? I tried a second ecu just in case that was the issue--same results.

The only way I know how to test the alternator is by starting the car and comparing volt readings to when the engine is not running.
Do you know of a way to test the alt without starting the car?

Was determined to get that thing running today.
Pulled everything apart. Last thing I did was crank it with the trailing plug out on #2 rotor. Didn't hear the familiar compression sound. Tested. No compression. .. @!$#%@#%@#% ..
Spent the rest of the afternoon prepping the engine for removal and sourcing a hoist.
Looks like I need some rotary resurrection.
Don't understand how it happened. .. whatever .. Time for a rebuild.
