Fresh spray paint job.

I got some updated pics of my 86 RX7. With a few fix ups to the body:

With the help of a friend my car is very nicely painted with spray paint. Its definetly way better then the primer, the door is a little bit off but good enough to last me till i get a professional paint job. Also notice the light lenses under the flip ups are sanded down, doesnt look so gay now.

First off this is how i bought my rx7 like with the light lenses painted the body colour:

Primer:

Spray paint:

We used a sunrise silver spray paint, apparently my original paint isnt in the paint code books which kinda sucked. Put on a few coats of clear coat as well. In my eyes this spray paint will hold me up till i get er painted.

Now for some sexy pics:

Should have gone ahead with the whole car so it would all match. then remove the driver door trim so it looks like a jdm gt or whichever ones dont come with trim between the wheel wells. Otherwise looks pretty good for a spraypainted car

I'm not really feeling the spray paint but I can't throw stones because I've never tried. Now the next task is getting some better looking wheels ASAP.

Haha yea i do hate the rims, they look horrible. But im only 18 and this is my first car just startin to make money and rims sure as hell arent gonna be the first thing i do to the car, first things first is a turbo motor.

As for the trim yea it doesnt go all the way around and i need to find more of the trim to make it go all the way around obviously. But once i get all the trim im gonna paint or figure somethin out to restore the real look of the trim.

Guys dont forget this is how i bought the car i did not make it look so horrible.

Thanks for asking, the in tact door does not have trim on it and the door that i spray painted came from a different car and on top of that the paint i got wasnt a exact match so.

No S4 has a line down the center like yours, S5 wouldnt look right at all. Plus you only have 1 out of 6 pieces inside of the wheel wells so Id say it would be easier and cheaper to just do away with it, though I do think trim looks better. I prefer black trim so that means youd have to redo pretty much all of it to make it up to my liking. But thats why its your car and not mine

the only reason to ever primer a car is if..

A)multiple colors

B)your getting it painted

glossy spray paint if done right looks about like the finish of the low end maako job.

Wha? According to the info, there were only 2 silver paint codes for S4's-

Artic Silver Metallic - J5
Tornado Silver Metallic - K8

From the pictures, it looks like yours should share the same paint code as mine, J5- Arctic Silver, which I know (all too well) is fairly readily available at most auto parts stores in small spray cans (bastards don't carry large ones of it, though ). Whether you simply didn't read the paint code right or it was repainted a different color, it looks largely like you simply used the wrong color paint. Given the painted S5-style trim pieces though and the lack of the 'MAZDA' sticker on the bumper, I'd not be surprised if it had been repainted at some point. I take it you mean 'the paint on the car when I got it', not 'the original paint'...

And I agree- get some bumper paint (that comes in big spray cans...) and some adhesion promoter and spray the trim back to black. The front where the paint on the trim appears to be spotting off just looks bad.
